Broadcast Yo Self: Nyle Lovett (DECEMBER CHAMPION)

December 16, 2010

Welcome to the concluding episode of Broadcast Yo Self for 2010. You ought to already know this by now, but Broadcast YoSelf is the motion-picture catalyst where skaters from around the world get to put their video edits on our website. Each month in 2010 we sifted through our submissions and featured a new video created by you. Since you’ve seen enough mainstream skate cinema already, sit back and enjoy some raw skating by civilian Nyle Lovett. Thanks to the folks at Nature Hardware for helping this particular episode come together. In other news, we are busy working on some new video projects that will be released in early 2011, so check back in a few weeks for fresh footage of the blissful Broadcast brethren.

Million, Billion, Trillion, Centillion

August 14, 2010

If this is the level of skating that is passed off as merely “worth mentioning… but honorably”, I think the future is looking mighty bright. Or on the other hand, maybe it is a sign of skate society reaching a dark zenith that it has reached before, prior to collapse. Like the idea that a star is brightest right before it explodes into a million pieces from overcombustion. Sometimes I pretend that because of the complexity and advancement of trick skating, the entire concept of maneuver-based skating will eat itself and digress (or progress) back to the initial skateboarding palette of carving, knee cruising, and miniature ollies, once again establishing the truth that we are all just a bunch of kids looking for something fun to do (regardless of how long we have been skating or how “good” we are at doing it).  Maybe I am just thinking too much and I should just enjoy this rad montage from our friends at SLAP Magazine, featuring the talents of a hundreds of skaters fighting for the title of One In A Million. Enjoy your weekend.

Broadcast Yo Self: Joey Adamczyk (FEBRUARY CHAMPION)

March 9, 2010

This is what’s up: a dude with a nearly impossible-to-pronounce surname ripping all sorts of spots. Broadcast Yo Self is the moving-picture catalyst by which we allegorically open our doors to the public and allow shredders from around the world the chance to be featured on our website. Each month we will sift through our submissions (to submit, simply send us your YouTube or Vimeo link on this page) and choose one unlucky brute to partake in the awesomeness that will be known throughout cyber eternity as Broadcast YoSelf. It’s certainly not going to make anybody famous, but we want the 2 or 3 people that check our website each month to enjoy some fresh content. In addition to the dishonor of appearing on thisisabroadcast.com, the winning skater each month will receive a Broadcast T-shirt. Plus you’re going to start getting phone calls from potential sunglass sponsors and babes in neon bikinis. So congratulations Joey Adamczyk, you’ve got yourself a new tee. Check back in a few to see next month’s winner.
